Kristin graduated with her B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in 2010. She then went on to receive her Ph.D. in Materials at UCSB in 2015 with a research focus on materials design in energy efficient lighting technologies and gained experience filing intellectual property in this area. During her time at UCSB, she also completed the Graduate Program in Management Practice certificate from the Technology Management Program, focused on providing a foundation in business and management skills, and participated in UCSB’s New Venture Competition. Kristin then founded Fluency Lighting Technologies, based on technology developed at UCSB under Kristin’s leadership and spun-out of the New Venture Competition.
